MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are raring to go as the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship gets underway at Thruxton this weekend.
Embarking on their sophomore campaign in the UK’s most competitive racing series, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square will take to the track with two Ford Focus STs – piloted by BTCC race winners Jake Hill and Ollie Jackson.
After a successful debut in the championship last year, where the team registered six podium finishes and an Independent Teams victory, the team aims to step up another level with the new machinery this season.
With an extensive pre-season testing programme completed, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square arrive in Hampshire excited to finally start the new season.
Playing host to the opening rounds of the campaign, the high-speed Thruxton circuit provides a unique challenge to the drivers. At 2.36 miles in length, the track maintains the highest average speed of any circuit on the calendar – pushing both driver and machine to the limit.
As the event is sadly running behind closed doors for the second year in a row, the MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square team will once again bring its valued partners and guests to the heart of the action through its exclusive virtual hospitality platform.
Ollie Jackson – #48 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“I’m thrilled to finally be here at Thruxton. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the winter to prepare for the season and I’ve just really missed the buzz of a race weekend. There’s a lot to look forward to and we’re confident we can put on a good performance. I can’t wait to be lining up on the grid for the opening race.
Jake Hill – #24 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“After a really long winter break, it’s brilliant to be able to say it’s race week. I’ve been waiting for this weekend since we finished up at Brands Hatch last year so I can’t wait to get in the car and get out on track. Thruxton is such a fun circuit to drive, every lap is a thrill ride and the racing will no doubt be just as thrilling.”
Mark Blundell – Sporting Director, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“I’m really confident heading into the weekend. We’ve had a productive pre-season so can arrive at Thruxton knowing we’re well-prepared to hit the ground running. I have full faith in Jake and Ollie and I know they’ll both be giving it their all. I look forward to watching their progress trackside throughout the weekend as well as welcoming some of our valued partners to our hospitality platform.”
