MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are delighted to welcome elite racing driver, Andrew Watson to the team as their Hybrid Development Driver.
With extensive experience in GT and endurance racing, Andrew boasts a rich CV complete with victory in GT World Challenge Europe, a podium finish at the Bathurst 12 Hours and a fifth place finish during his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut in 2020.
For 2021, Andrew is midway through his second season in the FIA World Endurance Championship running with the D’station Racing squad in the #777 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GTE car.
Bringing a wealth of varied knowledge to the team, Andrew’s role will see him play a formal part in the team’s early hybrid running ahead of its introduction in the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. The 26-year-old will support the team in its efforts to hit the ground running in 2022 utilising new technology, and this will include a formal on-track programme towards the end of the year.
Away from his elite racing duties, Andrew’s profession as a Sustainability Advisor sees him educate others on how to become more socially and environmentally responsible. Andrew’s new role in the team is supported by Andrew’s personal partnership with Howdens, the UK’s number one trade kitchens supplier*, an organisation who take their environmental responsibilities seriously and are committed to reducing their emissions and improving energy efficiency.
Commenting on the announcement, Andrew is excited to be joining the team alongside his 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship race programme and looks forward to getting started.
