BTCC racer Jake Hill aims to continue his winning fortunes as the championship heads to his home circuit of Brands Hatch this weekend.
Jake and the ROKiT MB Motorsport team experienced every emotion possible during the season-opening round at Donington Park. After claiming his first outright BTCC pole position on Saturday, Jake found himself excluded from the results of the opening race after damage picked up at the chicane led his car to fail the post-race ride height check.
Sent to the very back of the grid for race two, the BRDC SuperStar then stormed through the field in a comeback for the ages to climb to ninth place – gaining a remarkable 19 places in a single race. Drawn in the reverse-grid selection, Jake would then start the final race of the day back on the pole position spot. In a dominant performance, Jake won the race by 2.1 seconds alongside taking the fastest lap with a new lap record behind the wheel of his hybrid WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport.
A staple on the BTCC calendar, Brands Hatch Indy is also the shortest at just 1.21-miles in length. Drivers lap well below the 50-second mark and the circuit features some of the most iconic corners in British motorsport, such as Paddock Hill Bend and Druids. Jake has also enjoyed success there in the past – taking his first BTCC podium 2018, and again 2019 & 2020 with MB Motorsport.
Heading to Brands Hatch, Kent-based Jake is determined to put on a good performance in front of his home crowd.
“I’m so excited to head back to Brands Hatch,” Jake said. “I’m feeling really confident coming off of Donington and it’s always great to race at your home circuit. The Indy layout always gives us some good racing and I’m sure we’ll have some great battles out there this weekend. If we can carry on our performance from round one then we should be in for a good weekend all round.”
