The Irish Rallycross Championship kicked off in spectacular fashion this past weekend, with over 85 cars battling it out in a thrilling mix of rain showers and sunshine. Spirits remained high despite the unpredictable weather, as passionate fans and drivers alike packed the track for Rounds 1 and 2 of the championship. Among the competitors was our sponsored driver, Paul Pascoe, racing in the highly competitive Super Modified Rallycross class—the largest and most action-packed category of the weekend.
Saturday: Building Momentum
Saturday was all about fine-tuning the car’s set-up, with invaluable support from the BMRT Supercar Rallycross team. Paul and his team worked tirelessly throughout the day, and the effort paid off with significant improvements in performance.
The highlight of the day came with an impressive second-place finish in one of the qualifying heats, showcasing the car’s growing potential. After a hard-fought semi-final, Paul narrowly missed out on a spot in the final, finishing in 5th place and securing a respectable 9th overall for the day.
Sunday: Rising to the Challenge
Sunday saw further adjustments to the car, which proved to be game-changing. Paul began setting blistering lap times, adapting brilliantly to the shifting conditions.
- Heat 1: A solid 5th-place finish set the tone for the day.
- Heat 2: Performance ramped up with a 4th-place finish.
- Heat 3: Starting in 4th, Paul surged into 2nd place and held it to the finish line, a remarkable result in a class packed with talent.
This consistency earned Paul a spot in the semi-final, where a strong 4th-place finish secured his place on the back row of the final.
